I've always enjoyed drawing things that are just slightly out of date. Manual typewriters, airplanes with propellers, and land line telephones.
I doodled out the pencil underdrawing on the train yesterday. Lightly with orange on the way to work, then I tightened it up with red on the way home. I inked and highlighted it last night in my studio. That's fairly normal for me.

The land line from a aircraft has actually been used with considerable success. Back in the early days of Mission Aviation Fellowship, they found they could lower a handset in a bucket on a long(!) cord and keep it centered in a clearing or river bank in a jungle by flying circles overhead. I must say that the precise flying involved is far beyond the capability of most human beings. But they made it work.
